I didn't really think about what my short and sweet previous post would do to all of you...SOOO SORRY!!! Tom is really doing very well; and no...it was not a horrible joke! Here is the back story...
He was having some pretty bad chest pain about a month and a half ago (and exhaustion and general yuckiness). One day it wouldn't go away, so we went to the ER. The blood tests looked great, echo looked great, chest x-ray- great...you know the drill. He is fine! They told us to go see his Cardiologist on Monday. So we did. The stress test looked great, the ultrasound of his heart looked great, 4 chambers- great...you know the drill!!! He is fine!! They told him to wear a heart monitor. Awesome.
Fast forward 6 days...
I get home on Thursday Sept. 13 from running errands to message on the answering machine..."This is the Cardiologist. We need to call us as soon as he gets this messages. It is urgent."
"What!!!!!!!"
So- I can't get a hold of Tom. He went to lunch and left his cell charging on his desk. Awesome.
I call the Cardiologist..."Oh! I am so glad you called! We need to get Tom in to get a pacemaker tomorrow! We have had 57 alerts in the last 6 days from his monitor."
"Shut-up!"
Fast forward a sleepless 24 hours...
Tom has a pacemaker! Awesome.
Fast forward 1 month later...
Tom is doing great! He still has to be pretty careful with his arm. (We don't want the wires to come out of his heart.) But he has a lot more energy and next to no headaches! It really was an answer to prayers...not how we envisioned it, but that's okay.
And yes...that is my 9 year old wearing a skull and crossbones hoodie to the first day of school. Awesome.
